Our Remote Learning Platforms

At Horizon, we use a range of learning platforms to ensure that the widest possible remote learning offer is possible.

Google Classroom

This is the main learning platform that we use at Horizon. Here is where all tasks or assignments are posted and, most importantly, where live and recorded modelling and instruction from teachers and other staff is hosted, using Google Meet. A link to Google Classroom and instructions on how to access this can be found under 'remote learning'.

Accelerated Reader and MYON

Accelerated Reader is the reading platform we use in school. In combination with MYON, which is a highly effective ebook platform, we are able to use Accelerated Reader equally as effectively on a remote basis.

Chidren are able to access a wide range of reading materials based on their interests and pitched at their reading level and complete quizzes to assess their level of understanding.

Staff are then able to track this using the Accelerated Reader tracking reports and tools.

Links to both of these platforms and instructions on their use can be found under 'remote learning'.

Times Tables Rockstars

Children are able to log into Times Tables Rockstars from any web browser and use their unique logins to access a range of times tables activities and competitions. Our maths leader then tracks engagement and access.
