Safeguarding Information for Children
Dear Children,
It is really important that you grow up healthy and happy. We want you to know that you can learn and play without fear of being hurt or mistreated. Safeguarding can help you to do this as safeguarding means protecting you from any harm, abuse and neglect inside of school, outside of school and online.
At Horizon, staff will:
- Protect you from harm
- Make sure that you are looked after
- Deliver lessons, assemblies and workshops of the many different ways to keep safe
- Train safeguarding ambassadors at the school to help you throughout the day
- Teach you how to identify safe and unsafe situations
- Remind you how to seek help if you feel uncomfortable or scared
- Make sure that the school is a friendly, welcoming and supportive place to spend time in, making it somewhere you want to be
Please remember that if you are worried you must talk to one of your trusted adults.
You could talk to....
- One of the safeguarding team - the staff who wear the purple lanyards
- An adult in your family
- Your class teacher or teaching assistant
- Someone that you have chosen on your 'Hand of Five'
- A grown up wearing a high vis on the playground
- An SA@S ambassador
Children, remember that in each classroom there are posters to remind you of the safeguarding adults at Horizon as well as why you need to have trusted adults both inside and outside of school.

There is also a display board in the school to remind you of the safeguarding assemblies we have had over the terms and where to get help if you are feeling worried or scared.

We also have Safeguarding at School Ambassadors who have undertaken and completed TKAT Safeguarding training where they have developed their knowledge and understanding of how best to suppot pupils in keeping safe. They work closely with the Lead DSLs about their safeguarding duties and identify ways in which they can support pupils from sharing top tips for online safety to reminding children about what to do if they have any worries. Most recently, they have created a playtime and lunchtime restorative intervention called the 'Super Six' whereby they support pupils in resolving their differences whilst upholding our value of being compassionate.
Where can you get help and support?
