Year 3 Dragon Dance

Year 3 combined their knowledge of the pentatonic scale to create pentatonic melodies and their understanding of dynamics to create their own composition. This was accompanied by a dragon dance, which responsed to the dynamics in the music.

Year 5 and 6 Music Mash-Up

Year 5 and 6 combined their learning from music this term to create a remix of the WW2 song 'White Cliffs of Dover'.

Year 5 broke the song into fragments, looped these and created layers, before adding the backbeat to create a remix.

Year 6 used their accurate singing skills to sing the song and the fragments in unison. 

Key Stage 2 Combined their music and oracy skills to create a multi-media response to the song Ghost Town by The Specials.

Year 5 end of unit performance of 'Vamos Let's Go!', a song inspired by the music of South America. The children developed their knowledge within the concepts of rhythm and duration, pitch and notation within their learning during the term.

Year 4 performance of 'What's the News' a song inspired by the music of the Caribbean. They have developed their knowledge within the concepts of rhythm, pitch and duration, structure and notation.

Year 6 Leavers' Song. The children composed the lyrics for their leaver's song. They developed their knowledge and understanding within the concepts of structure, rhythm and pitch and melody and developed their knowledge within the discipline of singing performance and composition.

Year 3 performance of 'Gum Boots', a song inspired by the music of South Africa. The children developed their knowledge within the concept of pitch, as they used notes within the pentatonic scale; rhythm and duration, as they learnt to distinguish between minims and semibreves; and structure, as they learnt about verses and a bridge.

The Horizon Primary Academy Choir performance of 'A Thousand Years': The children applied their knowledge within the concept of pitch and melody to perform a beautiful version of the song.
