Reception
Reception - Woodland Wonders
Term 5 will focus on the basic skills of reading, writing and maths, ensuring that the children rebuild the foundations of learning in these subjects.
Reception will study the book 'The Gruffalo' by Julia Donaldson. A rhyming story about a clever little mouse and a monster. When mouse goes for a walk in a dangerous forest, he invents tales of a fantastic creature called a Gruffalo to scare off his enemies. Imagine his surprise when he meets a real Gruffalo.
They will then study the book 'Yucky Worms' by Vivian French. Worms ... they're yucky, aren't they? Not according to this enjoyable new book which reveals just how amazing the wriggly creatures really are! Worms - fun, fascinating and wriggly worms! The humble earthworm plays a significant role in the environment, as all farmers and gardeners know: it aerates the soil, composts dead matter into rich humus in which seeds can germinate and plants can grow. Children love them too - especially for their wriggliness!
Another fundamental priority is the PSHE curriculum, with a core focus of restoring postive mental health and wellbeing.
