HORIZON PRIMARY ACADEMY
SUMMER FETE FRIDAY THE 10TH JUNE
Hello and welcome to the Summer Fete Page- here you will find letters that have been sent home, flyers and additional information about the big day Friday the 10th June! We ask that you keep any flyers and letters that are sent out so you know what's going on.
This year Horizon Primary Academy have decided to celebrate the Queen's 90th Birthday. Gates will open at 1:50pm and there will be a small contribution asked of £1 per adult and 0.50p per senior and any additional children. We ask for this contribution so we can afford to put on events such as the "Sky Bird Of Prey" display.
The PTA, staff and children all work really hard for events like the Summer Fete and we appreciate your support as parents and carers. We are very fortunate that this year we have the additional support of scouting staff and the music teacher from Orchards Academy (Mr Allum) who has given up some of his valuable time to help our children compose music for the 'fashion through the decades' performance.
There is always lots to organise in a short space of time when it comes to fetes, and to remain cost effective it has to be carefully planned for. The children will begin their celebrations at lunch time where they will be eating their dinner out on the play ground in a 'street party' fashion, keep an eye out for photos online! Once the gates have opened, parents/carers will be asked to make their way onto the field and the main arena where they can watch their children come out in their costumes accompanied by music they have learnt and composed. Once the performance has ended teachers will take the children back to class and will then sign them off on the register. Parents will then be invited to make their way to the class room doors where you can collect your child. After this you can enjoy the stalls, games, activities and entertainment at your own leisure.
Please note that the newsletter will outline a 'rough' guideline to the day's events. We deliberately do not set these times in stone as we have to accommodate changes that may occur, so we thank you for your patience in advance. We would also like to add that we are aware that holding the fete on a Friday is not always convenient for some, and we have come to the arrangement based on parental views that one of the fetes will always be held on a weekend which we committed to for the Christmas fair last year. Already this year staff have been involved in Saturday activities like camps, the St George's day parade and as you may be aware, work late most evenings and into their weekends and holidays (unpaid). This year, by holding the event on a Friday, we ensure that every child is involved in the fun and there will be a whole school performance which we are very excited about!
The children in class have been learning music from the era's 1920's-80's ready for the fashion through the decades parade. Have a sneak peak preview below of some of the music you will hear on the day!
