For Mothers day this year we raised £83.00 for Hospices of Hope Charity. The gifts that we sold were all originally donated by this charity to us so we wanted to give something back! Please read email below:
Thank you for making a donation to our appeal to build the first in-patient teaching hospice in Serbia.
The hospice is much needed and will greatly increase the services we can offer to terminally ill cancer sufferers in that country. It will also mean that we can extend the training provided to medical professionals.
The wife of one of BEL’s patients wrote thanking BEL for caring for her husband and saying
“I know that in this city and in this country, having an institution like yours means hope for all incurable cancer patients, especially for those who are lonely, helpless or poor. The health care system in our city is becoming worse each day, people are suffering without any hope that they will find empathy or real help.”
She goes on to say
“This is why I strongly support your initiative to build a hospice in Belgrade, where patients in the most serious condition could spend some time with 24 hour care, while their carers could take a break, inform themselves and educate how to be able to help their loved ones in the most appropriate way.”
Thank you for helping make the new hospice a reality.
Best wishes from everyone at Hospices of Hope.

Looking forward to the New Year- Summer Fete plans begin!!!
Merry Christmas to all!
I want to start off with a big thank you to all those who helped at this year's Summer Fete whether you donated sweets, helped set up/tidy up, made resources or spared us your time. Events such as these require lots of planning and without the support of our school community we wouldn't be able to achieve this. This year I want to say how extremely proud I am of the many children who gave up playtimes to help organise, make, sort, paint and most importantly keep me going and inspired! I believe that Summer Fete's are all about the children and they should be as involved as possible. I felt that the day was a success- not only was it cost effective for us as a school, but I hope for you as parents/carers that we kept prices as low as possible. The African Animal experience was our biggest expense and what a great experience it was getting that close to the animals for that price! I hope that you enjoyed it as I know I did!
I would like to end on another big thank you to all of you who helped your time and contributions make a big difference.! I therefore hope that our 'Friends of Horizon' PTA will continue to grow so that as a school community we can continue to work together for our children.
Next Big Event Friends of Horizon will be hosting is the Christmas Fete 2017 come and speak to Debbie in September at our next meeting! remember friends of Horizon appreciates equally any commitment big or small!
Thank you Debbie
For Comic Relief 2017 (24/3/17) we raised £140.60! by wearing something silly to school for the day!!!
A big thank you to all of those parents/carers who either made cakes or bought some! we raised 167.18 for our chosen charity 'Tiny Tickers' http://www.tinytickers.org/
The charity is particularly close to one of our families, so it was great to have such a brilliant response! The children also had an assembly that week on the charity so to raise awareness as well as money! please take a look at the photos with your child and see if you can spot your cakes!
Our four year 3 judges tasted the cakes and the three winners are as follows:
1) Amber Year 5-The judges thought this chocolate cake was scrummy! they loved the home made effort and pink icing!
2) Zach Year 6- This home made sponge won on the basis of how fluffy and light the sponge was! well done!
3) Brandon year 1- These delightful fairy heart cakes were a popular choice! the chocolate chips inside were an extra special treat! well done!
Thanks again for everyone's efforts and support!
