CXK Emotional Wellbeing Service

CXK Emotional Wellbeing Service is a confidential service which is committed to improving and promoting the emotional health and wellbeing of children and young people.

The service works with children and young people, aged 5 -19, across Kent, who are experiencing emotional difficulties, which include:

  • Low mood
  • Behavioural difficulties as a result of emotional needs
  • Low self esteem
  • Poor self image
  • Relationships/social skills
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Attachment
  • School refusal
  • Unhealthy coping strategies

Why use the service?

CXK Emotional Wellbeing Service provides person centred counselling and brief solution-focused interventions which build emotional resilience and coping skills in the children and young people.

We support children and young people who are experiencing a variety of difficulties in their lives. Key triggers for these difficulties can include:

  • Bullying
  • Death or critical illness in the family
  • Domestic abuse
  • Family break up
  • Sibling conflict
  • Poor home environment
  • Parenting needs
  • Learning difficulties
  • Transition/change

How do I access CXK's Emotional Wellbeing Service?

From April 1st 2017 Kent Community Health Foundation Trust (KCHFT) are delivering the new Adolescent Emotional Health and Wellbeing service across Kent. This incorporates the school public health services for young people at secondary schools and tertiary colleges and targeted emotional wellbeing support for children and young people aged 5 – 19.

CXK will be delivering the targeted emotional wellbeing support through its new Emotional Wellbeing Service.

Referrals can be made by a child or young person, a parent or a professional. Details on making a referral can be found here.

How is the service delivered?


CXK Emotional Wellbeing Service is a confidential service delivered through one-to-one counselling and therapeutic support. Counselling is provided by CXK Emotional Wellbeing practioners who have a minimum qualification of a BACP accredited level 4 diploma in counselling therapy or equivalent. In addition, CXK Emotional Wellbeing Service practioners provide brief solutions focused one-to-ones.

Confidentiality

All sessions between the child or young person and CXK Emotional Wellbeing Service are confidential, apart from any safeguarding concerns when we may need to give information to another professional without asking the child or young person's permission if it is deemed to be in the interest of their safety to do so.

Where is the service delivered?

CXK Emotional Wellbeing Service is delivered across Kent and sessions are provided in safe environments that support the emotional needs of the child or young person.
