Governing Body

Horizon Governing Body Vision

The vision of Horizon Governing Body is to see all children develop into confident, life-long learners.

We will provide for opportunities for every child to:

  • Develop knowledge and skills required for their secondary education.
  • Respect themselves and each other.
  • Be confident, resourceful and resilient.
  • Understand the importance of health and well-being.
  • Make a positive contribution to their school and wider community.
  • Learn how to use technology safely and effectively.
  • Develop and celebrate talents and creativity.

As a Governing Body, we will work in collaboration with the staff, parents/carers, TKAT, the local community and our pupils to enable the school vision to be fulfilled.

Horizon Primary Academy, Kemnal Technology College and Orchards Academy have had a successful Joint Governing Body since September 2017. Horizon Committee Governors take responsibility for the challenge and support that takes place at the Academy on a day to day basis. However, having the Joint Governing Body means that we can draw upon a wider group of governors with a range of skills and experience. This makes us stronger and more efficient.

Scheme of Delegation

The Scheme of Delegation gives clear guidelines on the processes central to the work of our Governing Body. It also clarifies the relationship between the TKAT board and that of our Local Governing Body.
