We recognise that learning a foreign language provides our young people with a deeper understanding of other cultures and their place in the world as an international citizen. A high quality language education fosters curiosity and gives the foundation for learning further languages, equipping pupils to study and work in other countries in the future.
French at Horizon
High quality language education is paramount to providing the foundations of good language learning. For this reason, we employ a native speaking French teacher, one day a week. Madame Lambert has been working at the school since September 2014 and is a full-time secondary teacher at our neighbouring trust school, Kemnal Technology College. Both children and teachers benefit from this partnership and we are enjoying learning French together.
This term, children in KS2 have been learning through well-know quality text such as 'Little Red Riding hood' and 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. This is in preparation for an exciting French theatre production on April 26th. Children will be asked to participate in the action and show off their language skills.
