A LONG TIME AGO
Our topic in term 5 is 'A long time ago'. We will be learning about the different dinosaurs as well as animals from the ice age. We look forward to seeing the dinosaur and dinosaur egg creations the children have created for home learning.
What facts do you know about dinosaurs?
How are the habitats of triceratops different to the habitats of the woolly mammoth or sabre-tooth tiger?
Why did all of the ice melt?
EASTER BONNET COMPETITION
The whole school took part in the Easter Bonnet competition. The children made amazing bonnets at home with their families and brought them into school for our Easter assembly. We were very proud of what the children had made, and enjoyed watching them wear their bonnets and parade around the hall in front of everyone. Well done to Callum and Jacob for winning prizes in our class! And well done to everyone that took part.
MATHS
Maths is a very important area of learning in all year groups. It is especially important in Reception as it lays the foundations for their future education in Maths. This term the children have been learning to add using objects and number lines. For Shape, Space and Measure the children have been learning how to find half of a shape. You can practice adding with your children at home; you can use any house hold objects e.g. pegs, Lego, pasta etc.
PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
Physical Development is an important part of the EYFS curriculum. The children take part in BEAM sessions each week to improve their core strength. The children also take part in a weekly PE lesson. This term we have been learning how to travel safely around equipment. The children have been learning how to travel in different ways, negotiating space and changing direction.
WORLD BOOK DAY
The Reception children took part in World Book Day. The children looked fantastic in their costumes; they brought books in from home to share with a friend.
FANTASY TOPIC
In term 3 we were reading stories based around fantasy. We read 'Aliens love underpants', 'Zog' and 'The Gruffalo'. The children enjoyed visiting the ICT suite to draw aliens, they made alien spaceships and had lots of fun in the launderette. The children learnt how to find doubles using underpants. The children made dens for the animals in The Gruffalo, they made Gruffalo masks and completed fantastic pieces of story writing. At Forest School the children found natural materials to make the Gruffalo's face.
TRIP TO BORE PLACE
Reception and Year 6 visited Bore Place together. The Reception children and Year 6 children were put into teams and set off around the farm. The children picked their own vegetables from the farm and used them to make vegetable fritters. They went and visited the cows and learnt about dairy farming.

This week the children took part in enterprise week, as a class we made lemon flavoured biscuits and magic reindeer food.
FOREST SCHOOL
In Reception we take part in Forest School. We put our overalls and wellington boots on, and head out into nature. At Forest School we work as a team; building dens and making crafts from natural materials. We enjoy active learning outside.
