Remote learning and SEND

We understand that for children with SEN and disabilities, it can be even more of a challenge to access remote learning. We therefore offer the following to make the remote learning as effective as possible for these children and their families:

Providing a place in school:

If your child has an EHCP and you feel it best for them to attend school in periods of school closure, then please contact us if we have not already contacted you. Mrs Glassock the school SENCo will carry out a risk assessment with you so that you can determine together whether this is the right choice for your child.

Providing differentiated work and learning activities:

All teachers differentiate the work set for different abilities. This should allow most children with SEN to access the learning. In cases where this is not possible, Mrs Glassock (SENCo) and Mrs Long (Assistant SENCo) will lead on providing learning resources and activities pitched at a level that the children can access.

What if the children do not like to access the live learning due to their needs?

The teacher, in collaboration with our SEN team, will provide paper packs of work which can be collected from the main office. This can then be returned for feedback or parents can submit photographs of the work onto Google Classroom.

SEN Support Google Classrooms:

Where it is too challenging for children with SEND to access the learning for their class, we have set up SEN support classrooms, where specific work is posted and where, at times, additonal live or recorded sessions take place.

Interventions:

For children with speech and language needs, provision requirements linked to EHCPs and other SEN needs, we are setting up remote intervention groups, led by TAs. These are small-group interventions to ensure safeguarding protocols are adhered to. These will be mainly live sessions, delivered via Google Meet.
